The drywall contractor you are actually hiring
“If I open your wall and there is something you should see, I call you over and show you. It is your house. You should know what is behind it.”
Nelvin has spent seven years in remodeling — four of them in pool work and three in home interiors — and he is still the one on the tools. He opened Multiservices Belloso so homeowners could deal straight with the person doing the work instead of a salesman who is never on site again.
Almost every customer he has came from another customer telling them to call him. That is the whole business. It only works if the repair holds and the wall looks right.
The crew is Nelvin and his brother — the same two people from the first day to the last. Roofing and electrical are the two things they do not take on; everything else inside the house is work Nelvin has done with his own hands.
Drywall and sheetrock repair
Work of any size, from one doorknob hole to a ceiling that came down after a leak. Same trade, two names — sheetrock is just a brand of drywall.
Holes and dents
Doorknobs through the wall, furniture damage, a TV mount that pulled out. We cut it back to clean edges, back it so the patch has something solid to hold, and blend it in.
Cracks in walls and ceilings
Seam cracks, settling cracks above doors and windows, corner bead that popped. We open the crack and re-tape it instead of filling it, so it does not come back next season.
Ceiling drywall repair
Ceilings are the hardest part of this trade. Light runs across them, so the finish has to be feathered far wider than on a wall, and every coat is worked overhead.
Water damage
Roof leaks, AC drain lines, storm damage. Soft drywall never dries back to strength — it comes out. We cut to solid framing, put in new board, and finish it so the ceiling reads flat again.
Drywall patching
Small patches are their own skill. A patch that is too tight cracks at the seam, and one that is mudded flat on a textured wall shows from across the room. Both are avoidable.
Commercial and rentals
Offices, storefronts, rental turnovers and apartments between tenants. We work around your schedule when a unit has to be ready by a date.
Drywall is one of five trades we run with our own crew, which is why the patch and the paint over it are done by the same people. See everything we remodel, or go straight to painting, bathrooms or flooring.
Drywall finishing and texture matching
It is not the patch that gives a repair away. It is the texture around it.
Nearly every wall and ceiling in Manatee and Sarasota County was sprayed with a knockdown or orange peel texture when the house went up. Fill a hole, sand it flat and paint it, and that flat spot catches light from a window or a lamp and shows up as a halo. The patch is holding fine. It just does not match.
We spray the texture back on, knock it down to the same profile as the wall around it, and feather it well past the edge of the repair so there is no hard line where the new work stops. Then we prime it, so the patched area does not drink up paint differently and flash a different sheen.
We finish knockdown, orange peel, splatter and smooth. On new work we can take it to a level 5 finish — a skim coat over the whole surface — which is what you want under flat paint or anywhere a big window rakes light across the wall.
“Anybody can fill a hole. You are paying me so that nobody can find it afterward.”
Drywall installation and new walls
Not every job is a repair. Sometimes the wall is not there yet.
We hang, tape, finish and texture new drywall for garage conversions, room additions, a wall opened up mid-remodel, closets, and whole rooms framed and ready for board. Hung with the right thickness and screw pattern, taped, three coats of mud, sanded, textured and left ready for paint — or painted by us.
Ceilings, closets, soffits and the odd angles nobody wants to deal with are part of it. If the job needs moisture-resistant board in a bathroom or laundry, that is what goes in.
Cost on new installation comes down to square footage, ceiling height, and the finish level you want. We measure on site and put it in writing.
What a new install includes
- Board hung and screwed to spec
- Seams taped and three coats of compound
- Sanded flat, corners run straight
- Texture sprayed to match the rest of the house
- Primed and paint-ready, or fully painted
- Scrap and dust hauled out
Popcorn ceiling removal
Nothing dates a Florida house faster than a cottage cheese ceiling.
Most homes around Bradenton and Sarasota built before the mid-nineties still have them. We scrape the texture off, repair whatever shows up underneath — and something always does — then finish the ceiling smooth or in a current knockdown, and prime it.
It is a messy job done right: floors and walls masked, furniture covered or moved out, and the debris bagged and hauled instead of left in your bins.
One thing worth knowing before you start. Ceilings sprayed before roughly 1980 can contain asbestos, and that has to be tested before anyone scrapes. If your house is from that era we will tell you to have it tested first, and we will not touch it until you have the result in hand.
Why the ceiling under it is never perfect
Builders sprayed popcorn partly because it hid a fast tape job underneath. Once it comes off you usually find seams that were never finished properly. That repair is part of the work, not a surprise on the invoice.
What a drywall repair costs
Anyone who quotes you over the phone without seeing it is guessing. Here is what actually moves the number on a repair or a new install, so you know what we are looking at when we come out.
- How much has to come out. A fist-sized hole and a water-damaged ceiling are different jobs. Drywall that is soft has to be cut back to something solid, and you do not know how far that goes until you open it.
- Wall or ceiling. Ceilings cost more. Light travels across them, so the finish has to be feathered much wider, and everything is done overhead.
- The texture you already have. A smooth wall is straightforward. A heavy knockdown, an unusual splatter or an old hand-troweled finish takes longer to match.
- Whether the cause is fixed. If a leak is still running, the repair will fail. We will tell you that before we quote it, even when it means the job gets pushed.
- Paint. We can prime and paint the repair, paint the whole wall, or leave it paint-ready for you.
- On new installation, square footage and ceiling height. Hanging board in a nine-foot room is not the same as a vaulted ceiling, and a level 5 finish costs more than a standard texture because the whole surface gets skimmed.
The estimate is free and the price is in writing before anything starts. If we open a wall and find something that changes the job, you hear about it then — not on the final invoice.
How the job goes
Step 1
Send a photo
Call, text or email us a picture from your phone. Most of the time that is enough for us to know what we are walking into.
Step 2
We come look
Free, on your schedule. We check what caused the damage, not just the damage. A wet ceiling usually means something upstream is still leaking.
Step 3
Price in writing
Scope and cost before anyone starts. No deposit for a small repair, and no pressure to decide while we are standing there.
Step 4
We fix it and clean up
Floors and furniture covered, dust kept down, debris hauled out. You get the room back the way you handed it over.
Where we work
We are based in Bradenton and most of our drywall work stays within about an hour of it. A lot of the houses we go into went up in the eighties and nineties, and after three storms in one season a good share of the ceilings we open are still carrying water damage nobody ever finished fixing.

Questions people ask us
The ones that come up on nearly every estimate.
Do drywall contractors need a license in Florida?
Florida does not issue a standalone state license for drywall work. Under Florida Statute 489.117(4)(a), local governments are specifically barred from requiring a license for interior remodeling and finish trades such as painting, flooring, plastering and cabinetry.
What is worth checking instead is who will actually be in your house, and whether the scope is in writing. Ask who does the work, ask what happens if the repair does not hold, and get the answer on paper before anyone starts. Here the person who quotes it is the person who does it.
Can a handyman repair drywall in Florida?
For small repairs, yes. Florida’s handyman exemption covers minor repair and maintenance work where the whole contract, labor and materials together, stays under $1,000.
Past that, or on anything touching structure, electrical or plumbing, you want somebody who works to a written scope and is still answering the phone a month later. The risk with the cheapest option is rarely the patch. It is the texture that never matches and the crew that stops answering the phone.
Will homeowners insurance cover the repair?
Sometimes. In Florida a sudden failure — a pipe that bursts, a roof that opens up in a storm — is usually covered. Damage that built up slowly, like a drip that ran for months behind a vanity, usually is not. That distinction is where most claims are decided.
What we can do is document it properly: photographs of the damage before anyone touches it, and a written scope of the repair. Adjusters ask for both. We will not tell you how to word a claim, but you will have what you need to file one.
Do I need a permit to replace drywall in Florida?
Straight drywall repair and replacement generally does not require a permit. Permits come in when the work goes further — moving or removing a wall, altering structure, or anything involving electrical or plumbing inside that wall.
We will tell you at the estimate which side of that line your job is on, so nothing stops halfway through. We do not work around permits, and you should be careful with anyone who offers to.
How soon can you come out?
Usually within a couple of days for the estimate, and often the same week for the work. Small repairs sometimes get done the day we come look at them.
If water is actively coming in, say so when you call and we will move you up the list. We will also tell you on the phone to get the leak stopped first, before we drive out — a repair done over a live leak is money you spend twice.
Can you match my existing texture?
Yes — knockdown, orange peel, splatter and smooth. We spray the texture rather than trowel an approximation of it, and feather it well past the repair so there is no visible line where the new work ends.
On a ceiling with heavy side light, or a texture that was unusual to begin with, we will tell you honestly at the estimate how close we expect to get.
How long does a drywall repair take?
A single patch is usually one day, though joint compound needs time to dry between coats, so some repairs run into a short second visit. A full room or a water-damaged ceiling is normally two to four days including texture and paint.
You get a realistic timeline at the estimate, not an optimistic one.
Do you paint after the repair?
Yes. We do interior and exterior painting as well, so one crew patches, textures and paints. You are not chasing a second contractor to come finish what the first one started, and nobody gets to blame the other guy for how it turned out.
Do you remove popcorn ceilings?
Yes. We scrape the texture, repair the seams that turn up underneath, and finish the ceiling smooth or in a knockdown texture.
If the house was built before about 1980, get the ceiling tested for asbestos before anyone scrapes it. We will say so at the estimate and we will not start until you have the result.
Do you speak Spanish?
Yes. Hablamos español. Call, text or send photos in either language and you will get an answer in the same one.
